Brisbane-born Eloise Amberger was a competitive swimmer at state-age level, but her interest in ballet and gymnastics steered her towards synchronised swimming which she took up at 11 after seeing a segment on a children's television show.
The 25-year-old joined forces with duet partner Sarah Bombell in 2003 and the pair has since represented Australia at four world championships (2005, 2007, 2009, 2011), the 2008 Beijing Olympics where they were both part of the team that came 7th and the 2010 Commonwealth Games where they won bronze in the duet.
Amberger is studying forensic science and wants to pursue a career in the police force.
