In the summer of 1910/11, Mina was the girl destined to conquer the world of swimming. Mina had the first successes of her career that summer. In 1910 at Rushcutters Bay Baths, Mina set a world record, 1min 15.8 seconds, for the 100yds freestyle, beating the five year old record held by Englishwoman Jenny Fletcher by 1.5 seconds.
Mina was one of Australia's first two female Olympic swimming representatives, along with friend Fanny Durack.
