Growing up on the Gold Coast finishing year 12 at Elanora High School Aivi then went on to study a Bachelor of Science in Geography at the University of Nevada Reno (USA). In her final year Aivi captained her college team (University of Nevada, Reno, USA) and scored the winning penalty to send them through to the NCAA play-offs for the first time ever. Aivi then went on to win the Women's Premier League with United States professional club team FC Indiana in 2005 and 07 as well as open cup winners in 2005 and 2008. After five years overseas Aivi returned to Australia to play in season 2 of the Westfield W-League for Brisbane Roar. Following a standout year for the competition runners-up Aivi was selected in the Westfield Matildas squad to travel to New Zealand where she won her first Australian international cap in the Westfield Matildas 3-0 win over the Silver Ferns (New Zealand national team) in 2010. Since then Aivi has been a consistent squad member in the Westfield Matildas and was part of the side that won the AFC Women's Asian cup in 2010.
