Para-Cycling: Bronze Glory

The last six weeks have flown by but have been packed with so many awesome experiences.

Cardiff Staging Camp was productive and entertaining, the move into the village was smooth and I enjoyed a room of my own for the first week of the games until my roomy Carol arrived for the Road Races.

First ride on the Track 3000m was a dream come true. Finally I broke the WC1World Record after 4 years of trying and the icing on the cake it was the first World Record to be broken on the Velodrome for the Paralympic Games.

The 500m Time Trial could have been a disaster and at first I thought I'd blown my chances after a mid race Spac Attack but somehow I held on and broke the World Record and took the Bronze Medal after forcing the Silver and Gold Medalists to break their own record to beat me.

In the Road Time Trial I improved by one place from Beijing and I was having a lovely ride in the park in the Road Race when on the 4th lap I was taken out by a C5 male rider who misjudged his pass of me and down we went. He continued but my derailer was broken so I got bandaged up and played spectator for the rest of the day. He did come back after the race and apologise but these things happen.

So now it's onto all the commitments that come with being a Medalist. I'm loving it.
