World Championships, Norway

What a crazy few weeks this has been. After the cancelled World Cup in CZE, I flew home to see some family for four days before returning to Norway for the World Championships.

I was really nervous about this event- My last World Champs did not go to plan- I had a case of Murphy’s Law two years ago in Deer Valley where whatever could go wrong, did go wrong. My binding malfunctioned in the start gate and I barely got to compete.

I was determined to make this one better! The temperatures were cold but the sun was shining. The track was fun and fast. We had two days to train on the track before the competition- And having that extra day really helped me familiarise myself with the track. AND I quad-ripple checked my equipment to ensure that I was in the best position for success!

I qualified in 16th position with a few errors and knew where to make up some time for the heats. I was really excited to race- and really nervous! I pulled out of the start and was neck and neck with eventual World Champion Fanny Smith of Switzerland- however she got the better of me, and squeezed her way into 2nd place off the first jump, proceeding through to the Quater Finals behind Sasa Faric of Slovenia. My Day Done.

I finished in 16th place at the World Championships- two places better than two years ago. I am yet to have my ‘debrief’ with my coach but I can say that I am looking forward to bettering my season soon.
