Q & A

Greatest sporting achievement: Playing for Australia at two World Cups

Greatest achievement off the field: Being commissioned as an Officer in the Australian Defence Force

Who is your sporting heroine? Norma Plummer, I think she’s pretty cool

How many hours per week to you train/exercise? 18 hours during the season, 8 – 12 hours off season

What kind of diet or nutrition plan are you on? Just to eat a healthy and have a balanced diet. A bit of a cliché, but its what makes my body feel strong and healthy without craving chocolate

What do you love about your sport? The passion required to play it. It takes a physically and mentally strong woman to play Rugby Union.

If you could change something about your sport, what would it be? The stigma behind it. Rugby Union is a great sport that can be enjoyed by all, no matter their size, age, shape or gender.

What motivates you? I love playing with a team full of inspirational girls. No matter what team I play for, each and every girl always impresses me with their courage, motivation and teamwork required to play 80minutes of a contact sport. I’ve seen 50kg girls bring down 120kg girls, only to get straight back up ready to do it again. You don’t get that sort of dedication in a game of tennis!

Do you have a profession outside of your sport? Yes (I need to make a living!!) I work for the Australian Defence Force and love it.

Three words that describe you: Tall Blonde Chick.

If I wanted to play your sport, what advice would you give me? Just to give it a go and don’t be scared.
