NEW Hockeyroos coach Adam Commens has wasted no time in making his mark on his 2011 squad, with star midfielder Kate Hollywood the biggest name to be axed as he plots his path to Olympic gold next year.
Kate Hollywood's glamorous image has often overshadowed her ability as a hockey player, something she is determined to change as she positions herself for future selection.
Australia A (women) failed to produce their best efforts last night, but still managed to come away with a 1-0 win over France’s national side at the Perth Hockey Stadium in the first game of their 4 test series.
One of the biggest names in women's hockey may be missing from the London Olympics after Kate Hollywood was left out of Australia's training squad on Monday.
IT is hard to imagine being dumped from a national squad could be anything other than heartbreaking.

How many hours per week to you train/exercise? 6 days a week roughly 4-5 hours a day and then matches on top of that
What kind of diet or nutrition plan are you on? I am not on a specific diet plan. I eat healthy as I need the right fuel for my body to perform at my best. I do have a super sweet tooth so allow myself treats quite regularly and helps me make it through those hard times at training or as a reward after
What do you love about your sport? I love that friendships that are built when in a team. Being able to train and compete with your friends is something really special. This is what keeps me going. When you are all working hard and putting it in together to make it through a session it’s when you realize how great a team sport is
If you could change something about your sport, what would it be? I would love for the regconition and the coverage of the sport to be greater and shown on TV. It is such a great game, both Men and Women and so exciting to watch live , I’d love to see it become a professional sport in Australia
What motivates you? The feeling after I have completed a training session or gym session, reminds me of how much I love being active. I remember this when I feel dull and just going out for a walk in the sun and fresh air really makes me feel 100 times better and gives me time to think and motivates me in what I am doing
Do you have a profession outside of your sport? I am just 6 weeks off finishing a degree in PD/H/PE and I will then become a PE Teacher
Three words that describe you: Energetic, Talkative and Impatient
If I wanted to play your sport, what advice would you give me? Join a team and you will never look back once you start a game of hockey . It is so much fun running around on the field with a group of friends, and learning new skills. An enjoyable game
“I think that Sport for Women Day is a fantastic initiative to recognize the skills, commitment, passion and dedication of females athletes and their involvement. In a world so male dominated in sport, it is great to support females and their role in sporting activities.”
